Proposed Network Topology

Network Topology

1. Star Topology

In a star topology, each device has a dedicated point-to-point link only to a central controller/hub, which is then connected to a router for internet access.

2. Ring Topology

In a ring topology, each device is linked only to its immediate neighbors, forming a single continuous pathway for data transmission.

Networking devices

1.     1. Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)

UPS provide emergency power to a load when the input power source or mains power fails. Essentially, it is a battery backup that ensures electronic devices continue to receive power temporarily during a power outage, allowing users to save data and safely shut down equipment.

2. Firewall

The firewall protects the cyber cafe network from cyber threats by monitoring and controlling traffic. It filters incoming and outgoing data based on predefined security rules, ensuring network security and privacy.

3. Router

The router serves as the getaway to the internet, managing internet traffic for the  cyber cafe. It connects to the ISP and provides Network Address Translation (NAT) for internal devices to access the internet.

4. Server

The server hosts various services that can enhance the cyber cafe's offerings. For example, it can host a file storage system where customers can save and retrieve their files, a print server for managing print jobs from different devices, or a local gaming server for multiplayer gaming sessions.

5. Wi-Fi Router

The Wi-Fi router provides additional Wi-Fi coverage and can act as a secondary access point, improving wireless connectivity within the cyber cafe. It extends the reach of the wireless network, ensuring that customers can connect to the internet from anywhere within the cafe premises.

6. Switch

Switch is used to connect devices, such as computers and printers. Each device connects to a switch, providing a reliable and high-speed local network connection.

7. Network Attached Storage (NAS)

NAS is a storage device that is connected to a network and provides centralized data storage that other devices (such as computers, servers, or other NAS devices) can access. NAS devices are designed to be easily accessible, scalable, and often offer features like data redundancy and remote access.

8. Printer

Printer is a device that produces a hard copy (physical copy) of documents or images stored in electronic form on paper or similar physical media.

9. Print-of-Sale (POS) system set

POS system set is used by businesses to manage transactions with customers at the point where the services are purchased.

Communication Media

1.     1. Wireless Communication

Wireless communication via access points allows customers to connect their devices to the network without physical cables, such as laptop, tablet, phone and CCTV, providing flexibility and convenience.

 2. Wired Communication

Wired communication refers to the transmission of data or information between devices over physical cables or wired mediums. Ethernet cables are used for wired connections between devices and switches, such as PC for normal use and gaming use, providing a stable and high-speed network connection.
